Welcome to our store! Here at Bay Window you will find two levels of shopping enjoyment with 4 distinct areas: the Main Room, Seasonal Room, Katie's Room, & the Basement. Read on to discover what each area has to offer.
We are housed in a century old building, built in 1903 by my grandfather. You will see much of its charm in the old stone walls, wood steps, & a few pieces of antique furniture that have been in this building for decades.
We host many events throughout the year, as well as classes, clubs, and even offer most services on our

The Main Room:
In this room you will find our Color Wall of fabrics. We also feature Thimbleberries brand fabrics, Civil War inspired fabrics, Batiks, & new collections separated out in displays.
This is also were you will find our check out counter and main cutting station.
The Seasonal Room:
We enjoy Christmas & Halloween so much, that we've dedicated a room for keeping our quilt models on display all year long. This room also houses current holiday fabric collections. Look for the new holiday lines to start arriving in April of each year.
This room also houses the majority of our Notions. You will find thread, specialty rulers, rotary cutters, cutting mats, general notions, buttons, and more in this room.
The Basement:
We carry a large assortment of flannel! You will find this and other specialty fabrics in our basement. Minkee Blankee, Wool, WoolFelt, Decorator Fabrics, & Fleece can all be found downstairs.
This is also where you will find our classroom where we hold our club meetings, our online/shipping offices, and StrongArm Quilting, the in-house longarm machine quilter.
It's worth the trip!
Katie's Room:
Named after Sarah's daughter, Katie, this room is filled with all of the fun and funky fabrics.
We love designers like: Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett, Denyse Schmidt, Alexander Henry, and more. You will also find 30's reproduction fabrics, kitchen prints, Oilcloth, our Solids, Baby fabrics, Sports/Themed prints, Asian fabrics, cats/dogs, Japanese designed, and whatever else we think is fun.
You will find gifts throughout our store. Especially from Minnesota company
Midwest of Cannon Falls.
Don't forget the Batting! We have an extensive selection of cotton, cotton/poly,and polyester batting available. You can either purchase it by the yard or in prepackaged bed sizes.
A Little History
Bay Window Quilt Shop was started in 1989 by Sarah Hayden. At the time it was called Bay Window Crafts and the majority of the merchandise was craft based. Over the years the store and its inventory has changed to accommodate the growing quilting industry.
At this time Bay Window Quilt Shop carries 4500 bolts of high quality quilting fabrics from the top designers in the industry. We have expanded our store to now have 5000 square feet for shopping enjoyment.
We have an in-house quilt pattern designer, Katie Hennagir, who publishes patterns that are sold here in our store and in other quilt stores nationwide. Katie also publishes a bi-monthly magazine titled A View From Bay Window. This magazine is available through our shop and features a newly designed quilt pattern in each issue. It also includes recipes, quilting tips, new product previews, decorating ideas, and other fun information. Cost per year: $18. Check out the latest issue at our check-out counter.
In May 2007, we were chosen by Better Homes & Garden's American Patchwork & Quilting staff to be a Quilt Sampler Top Ten Shop. The Quilt Sampler magazine which is published twice a year as a special issue highlights ten shops throughout North America. We were chosen from over 3000 shops to be featured in the Spring/Summer issue for 2007. Katie designed a special quilt pattern, Story Time, and photos where taken of our shop for the issue.
Plan a trip to Perham ~
We hope you are able to join us in person here at our shop in Perham. If you are planning to join us with a group of friends, please let us know ahead of time and we would be happy to put a little something together for you.
We are also happy to accomodate buses and large groups of visitors. Please schedule your visit in advance by calling the shop.
Perham is a great place to shop with great specialty shops, restaurants, & more!
